Obasanjo Blames Jonathan, Others For Electricity Problem In Nigeria
President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has blamed his successors for the rot in the power sector.
He said the country needed to generate 2,000 megawatts every year for the citizens to enjoy stable electricity.
Obasanjo, after his second coming as a civilian president, handed over to the late former President Umaru Yar’Adua in 2007 while President Goodluck Jonathan assumed office in May, 2010.
He said subsequent administrations after his reign as military ruler between 1976 and 1979 did nothing on power generation until he returned in 1999.
According to him, leaders in the country lack the political will to confront national challenges.
He said, “Part of our problems is lack of political will on the part of the leaders.
What does a leader understands about development? Any leader worth his salt should know that power is very important.
It is the driver of all developments, be it social, economic, and even political.
“When I was military head of state, I developed the Jebba Dam, I developed Shiroro, I started Egbin.
Shehu Shagari came and completed Egbin and commissioned Jebba and Shiroro.
“Between Shagari in 1983, until I came back in 1999, there was no single dime invested in power generation.
If anything, the ones that were there were allowed to go down.”
The ex-President, spoke at a programme tagged ‘First Green Legacy Moment with Olusegun Obasanjo on Leadership and Human Security in Africa’, which held in Abeokuta.
Obasanjo said, “A country like Nigeria must be adding not less than 2,000 megawatts every year if we are to be moving on the path of development.
“If you will remember, when I came back in 1999, my first Minister of Power was late Bola Ige.
I won’t say Bola didn’t know what he was doing and he said publicly that he would fix the power problems in six months.
“After one year, Bola with his capacity couldn’t fathom what was wrong with power.
It was riddled with corruption. Then we had no money.
People have forgotten that in 1999/2000, the price of crude oil was US $9 per barrel. So, I wanted the oil companies, Mobil, Total and they wouldn’t go.
“When we started having money, we started the National Integrated Power Plant.
When we said the money we had should be invested in power, my successor didn’t understand; he stopped it.
If for almost 20 years we did not achieve anything in power generation, then we may not be able to get it again.”
Obasanjo, who cited South Africa as an example, said with its population of 55 million people, SA generated 45,000 megawatts, while Nigeria with about 180 million people could not generate 4, 000 megawatts.
He said, “For us to say that we are industrialising country, we must be generating much more than what South Africa is generating, say 100,000 megawatts.
“What year will Nigeria get there if we are adding 2,000 megawatts each year? For us to get to 100,000 mega watts, I leave the mathematics to you. It sounds very discouraging but that is the reality.”

Big Girl! Super Falconets player Courtney Dike Rejects World Cup N1.2m Bonus (See Why)
Courtney Dike has turned down the N1.2m ($7,000) bonus given to each player as bonus for playing in the 2014 FIFA U20 Women World Cup.
Courtney who is the younger sister of Super Eagles player, Bright Dike said she valued playing for Nigeria, more than the monetary reward. Head of competition, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Dr. Sanusi Mohammed, made the revelation, saying that the federation was amazed at her refusal.
Sanusi told footballlive.ng that efforts to reach her mother could not even change Courtney's mind as her mother instead supported her daughter's stand not to collect the money. The Federation member said:
"Courtney Dike is based in America. When she was paid the outstanding 10 days worth
of allowances in the tune of seven thousand dollars, she turned it down. When we called her mother to confirm the delivery of the allowances, she declined it and insisted the opportunity to serve Nigeria was all the reward the family needed. Besides she said she was to young to earn that much.”

Boko Haram may capture entire 3 North East states in weeks: says Deputy Governor of Borno state
Deputy
Governor of Borno state, Zanna Mustapha, while visiting thousands
displaced indigenes in Yola yesterday Monday November 3rd, said that
with the easy way Boko Haram has been capturing territories in Adamawa,
Borno and Yobe, the three states would soon be history.
“If the Federal Government does not add extra effort, in the next two to three months, the three North-Eastern states will no longer be in existence. The Federal Government has tried its best but their best is not enough because rather than going after the insurgents, it is the insurgents that are going after us. It is a big crime that the criminals are better equipped than the military and they are just few kilometres from the Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states capitals.”Zanna disclosed that 13 local governments in Borno, three in Adamawa and others in Yobe are currently under the control of Boko Haram. He said, going by intelligence reports, if the Federal Government did not step up its security measures the fall of the three states would only be a matter of days or weeks.
Why Redeem's G.O, Pastor E. A. Adeboye Should handover Now!

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has expanded greatly and it is still expanding.
This tremendous growth has made it one of the richest churches in Africa (it may even be the richest). It has a large number of pastors with the head as Pastor E. A. Adeboye.
The problem is some (if not many) are position covetous. It will surprise you the things these pastors use to canvass for position. They give gifts that do not come from their heart to senior pastors and show fake 'submissiveness'.
If Pastor Adeboye dies without putting his successor in the general overseer position, there will be a big problem.
This problem will be similar to that of Christ Apostolic Church(CAC) of Apostle Ayodele Babalola. Despite how prayerful the man was, the events that followed his death were strange as pastors at a time used charms against themselves in the name of fighting for position. The factions of CAC now are many and the church lacks unity even till now.
The reason for my opinion now is death can come anytime. I'm not wishing Pastor Adeboye death o. What I'm saying is Apostle Babalola death came without notice. He had just prepared for a crusade and decided to sleep than he died. Also the recent death of Pastor Sadela (oldest man on pulpit) is a sign. A man that claimed God told him he will live up to 200 years died suddenly.
Anyway it is my opinion and this may be disregarded if God leads him not to handover now.

No pain No Gain! This is What Hardwork Has Done For Me ––Oritsefemi ,
Oritsefemi lately has said he is not diabolical and neither did he get his money from the devil. He has some words for you:
“I headline several shows both home and abroad. There is hardly a show you would go to right now that my name is not on the poster. It is through hard work and I thank God. Although I cannot disclose how much I got the car and the house, I was able to get the money from the shows I headlined.
“I am popular now due to hard work and I am always in the studio. After my song, Mercy of the Lord, with Dagrin, I tried my best to bring out a better song but I was unlucky to get any. I had to go back to the drawing board to create the kind of sound people would like.
“I did not go to Satan to succeed, it is not possible. I advise many of my childhood friends that to make it in life, you have to work hard. I say this because some of them may believe the rumour that I did juju, no. It is through hard work. Hard work pays and nobody should do juju. It is my hard work that is paying off,” he said.
